Attorney Otis Dominique is the strategic and operational backbone of Prenatal Well, an advocate, storyteller, and systems builder whose work sits at the intersection of justice, creativity, and community empowerment. His philosophy is rooted in the belief that every human being carries an innate well of power, and that we can move mountains when we access it.

In his legal practice, Otis became known for his willingness to explore unconventional pathways when traditional advocacy fell short. This perspective led to one of the most defining moments of his career: representing a client facing two criminal cases and the threat of imprisonment. Drawing on prior experience producing a narrative film and committed to revealing the full humanity of the man he represented Otis turned to documentary storytelling as an innovative defense strategy.

Months after the film was submitted, the prosecutor initially unwavering returned with a transformed tone, offering probation. When Otis boldly requested full dismissal, she did not resist; instead, she authored an internal letter advocating for the client’s entry into a deferred prosecution program that would ultimately result in charges being dismissed. Although the client was later denied entry and accepted probation, the experience reinforced Otis’s conviction in the power of narrative to shift perspectives and outcomes.

Since that pivotal case, Otis has produced 14 documentary short films, each significantly shaping case outcomes and demonstrating how justice emerges when the fullness of a person’s story is brought into view. At Prenatal Well, he oversees governance, legal strategy, and long-term sustainability ensuring the organization thrives with integrity, compassion, and excellence.
